Family Wisdom: Part Seven (Final songs and blessings)

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centred

Forgive them anyway

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.

Be kind anyway

If you are successful you will win some false friends and some true enemies.

be successful anyway

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you

Be honest and frank anyway

What you spend years building, someone may destroy overnight

Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, people may be jealous.

Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will forget tomorrow.

Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. But give the world the best you have anyway.

You see in the final analysis, it is all between you and God: it was never between you and them anyway.

(attributed to Mother Teresa)

Blessing:

Deep peace of the running wave to you.

Deep peace of the flowing air to you

Deep peace of the quiet earth to you

Deep peace of the shining stars to you

Deep peace of the Son of peace to you

Amen

About Gentle Breeze

Julia is married to Kevin. They live together in Todmorden with their black and white cat Willow. Todmorden is a small rural town nestling among the Pennine hills in the Upper Calder Valley, on the border of West Yorkshire and Lancashire. Since July 2020, we have had another addition to our household. My Mum, Heather came to live with us. As she became increasingly frail, both Kevin and I cared for her with a help of a few valued formal carers. Both of us have retired, as caring for my Mum became a full time job. Now my lovely Mum has recently died. And our elderly cat Willow, now 18 years is soon to follow. I feel broken hearted at the thought of losing them both so close together.
